Matt Stokes

Matt Stokes is a Researcher at Nesta, the UK’s innovation foundation. His work focuses on digital social innovation and new ways of tackling social challenges through existing and emerging technologies, with a particular interest in the fields of inclusion, democracy, housing and environment. He also works on the collaborative economy, exploring how online platforms can be used to connect people and assets to deliver social and environmental value.

Matt recently co-managed DSI4EU, a European Commission-funded study researching and supporting digital social innovation across Europe, and is lead author of the report “What next for digital social innovation? Realising the potential of people and technology to tackle social challenges”. He is also currently facilitating the DSI and
collaborative economy networks of the Social Innovation Community project.

Prior to his current role Matt worked on education and employment projects at Nesta and on economic inclusion at the think tank ResPublica. He holds a BA with Distinction in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford.
