Through an interactive and participatory activity (gaming), Emergency speakers will show students the “gears” that drive the great war machine. Understanding what lies behind the word war is the first step on the road to abolishing war itself.
The aim of the meeting is to convey to the students the idea of a world without war; not just a utopia, but instead, something concrete and achievable. The students will be welcomed by the speakers (Stage I) who will introduce the idea of the abolition of war starting from the Russell-Einstein poster, and ending the first part with the projection of the web-doc “History of a Bullet” (about 45 total minutes total). Stage II will be realised through the concept of “gamification”: the students will use their smartphones to take part in an interactive team game with the speakers, aiming to provide them with thoughtful reflections on the idea of abolishing war (about 45 minutes total).
